Colorado Chamber Office Hours host Ed Sealover interviews Colorado Senate President James Coleman for the first episode of the podcast.

Like what you’ve seen from The Sum & Substance? Well, soon you’ll have a chance to like — or dislike — what you hear as well.

The Colorado Chamber of Commerce today launched a new podcast, “Colorado Chamber Office Hours,” that incorporates aspects of its now-three-year-old news site and seeks to bring the conversation about key business issues to a wider audience.

The podcast — hosted by TSS Editor Ed Sealover — is available on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube and will release a new episode each Monday throughout the legislative session and then every other week in the off-season. Links to each episode will be available as well at The Sum & Substance.

What’s in Colorado Chamber Office Hours?

Ed Sealover interviews House Speaker Julie McCluskie for the Colorado Chamber Office Hours podcast.

Colorado Chamber Office Hours will feature a 10- to 15-minute conversation with a guest who has an outsized influence on business policy — key legislators, innovators, executives, trade-group leaders and up-and-comers in the business realm. Then Sealover will provide a roughly five-minute look at some of the business events you should know about in the week or weeks ahead, including important legislative debates, rulemaking hearings, report releases and other newsworthy happenings.

The aim is to get people thinking and talking more about the policies, proposals and trends that impact business operations, and how those impacts are felt throughout society.

“By bringing together top business and political leaders across Colorado for candid conversations, the Chamber is creating a new way for Coloradans to stay informed about the issues and people shaping our state and local economies,” Colorado Chamber President/CEO Loren Furman said.

The first episodes feature legislative caucus leaders — Senate President James Coleman, Senate Minority Leader Cleave Simpson, House Speaker Julie McCluskie and House Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell — previewing the session, explaining their priorities and answering questions about key business issues. The 120-day legislative session begins on Jan. 14 and is scheduled to adjourn no later than May 13.

Why the Chamber is doing this

Following episodes will feature discussions of the biggest specific bills impacting business this session, either with sponsors or the leaders of affected industries or both. The conversations will feature probing questions and try to put into perspective why the issues matter to more than just those inside the Golden Dome.

After the session ends, Sealover is hoping to talk with CEOs, political candidates, inventors of the coolest things made in Colorado, objects of key rulemakings and even some of the next business leaders participating in the Colorado Civics Bee. The conversations are meant for anyone who seeks a deeper understanding of the business world and what it takes to succeed and to overcome obstacles along the way.

“This is going to be a podcast for Coloradans interested in what policies and market dynamics are impacting the business atmosphere across the state,” Sealover said. “This will be a whole new way for them to become informed about the issues shaping our economies.”

And, yes, I did just quote myself in a story that I’m writing about a podcast that I’m hosting. But I’m hoping to get you to listen to it. So, please tune in and give it a listen.
