As Colorado House Democrats look to solve the state’s affordability crisis, it is “important that we be both pro-worker and pro-business,” House Speaker Julie McCluskie tells host Ed Sealover in this week’s episode of the “Colorado Chamber Office Hours” podcast.
The top Democrat in the House sat down for a wide-ranging conversation about her party’s priorities in this legislative session, which kicked off on Jan. 14 and will get down to holding hearings on bills beginning this week. The episode is the fourth of five that will focus on legislative and business leaders’ goals for the 2026 session, which is scheduled to run through May 13.
McCluskie, D-Dillon discusses how she believes regulations impact the costs of living and doing business in Colorado both in positive and negative ways, and she explains how she wants to navigate new rules and their effects on the state this session. But she also speaks about why the Legislature must do more this year to complete its historic investments in workforce development and what is left to do to increase the stock of affordable housing.
