June 1 “Colorado Chamber Office Hours”: Next steps to new career pipelines

Bobbie Wolfe and Traci Marques appear on the June 1 episode of "Colorado Chamber Office Hours."

One year after statewide business and educational leaders met in a series of regional talent summits to develop plans for how to create more career pipelines, those ideas are ready to become reality. And to explain how that will work, I brought two workforce-development leaders onto the “Colorado Chamber Office Hours” podcast this week.

First, Bobbie Wolfe, the senior consultant for sector partnerships and industry at the Colorado Workforce Development Council, explains the next steps in the process, starting with a statewide online seminar scheduled for June 9. And she also explains what is needed from employers who have identified the existing skilled-talent shortage as a top concern and have committed to helping work in partnership with educators to fix it.

Then Traci Marques, CEO of the Pikes Peak Workforce Center, gives examples of how some of the 232 recommendations in the Regional Action Plans that emerged from the summits could be implemented, both in her region and throughout the state. And she explains how employers won’t have to sit through endless meetings to make these plans work but will be asked to consider helping shape curricula for high-demand careers or even helping to launch new training classes with local schools.

As always, you can catch the podcast on all your favorite channels, with new episodes dropping every other week between now and the end of the year:
