Jena Griswold and Michael Allen would take significantly different tacts to how they would serve as Colorado’s next attorney general if elected. And on the latest episode of “Colorado Chamber Office Hours,” I parse out with the candidates what those differences would mean for Colorado employers.
Griswold, currently the Democratic secretary of state, said she would use the position to actively go after polluters, wage-theft violators and others and would continue in the tradition of current AG Phil Weiser in filing federal lawsuits to stop what she considers the overreaches of President Donald Trump. She talks too about how she believes her current position has put her into position to manage the state’s top attorneys even if she doesn’t plan to be the attorney taking many cases to court.
Allen, current the Republican district attorney for El Paso and Teller counties, explained how he would protect Colorado residents but would be judicious in how he uses the power of the office, ensuring it doesn’t take action for political gains. He discusses how he believes his background in criminal and water law is needed for this position at the current moment.
